DIGITAL SUMMER 2026 — BAMENDA (June – July 2026)

Sparking Digital Possibilities from an Early Age

In 2026, QBIC took the Digital Summer experience to Bamenda in partnership with Royal Heirs Academy, delivering a five-week practical technology program for children between the ages of 5 and 13.

Approximately 50 children participated in the program, many of whom were encountering computers and practical digital learning for the first time.

The training focused on building foundational digital skills through a highly practical learning approach. Participants were introduced to areas such as:

  • Computer fundamentals
  • Typing
  • File and folder management
  • Microsoft Office basics
  • Practical computer usage
  • Digital literac

Approximately 90% of the curriculum was practical, allowing learners to spend significant time interacting directly with computers and applying what they learned.

Bamenda and the wider North-West region have experienced prolonged disruption to education as a result of the ongoing socio-political crisis. Within this context, QBIC saw an opportunity to create an engaging learning environment where children could develop practical digital skills and discover new possibilities through technology.

The response from both learners and parents reinforced the importance of creating more opportunities of this kind. The excitement of children who were learning basic computer skills for the first time, together with the feedback received from parents, strengthened QBIC's commitment to expanding practical digital-skills initiatives within the community.
