DIGITAL SUMMER 2023 — YAOUNDÉ (June – August 2023 )

Equipping the Next Generation with Digital Skills

In 2023, QBIC, in partnership with Glas Group, organized the Digital Summer program in Yaoundé—a two-month practical training initiative that brought together approximately 40 participants, including children, teenagers, and adults with different levels of digital experience.

The program was designed around the needs of each age group.

Children and teenagers were introduced to basic information technology and digital literacy, helping them develop foundational skills and greater confidence in using digital tools.

Adult participants received training in more specialized areas, including data processing, web development, and graphic design, giving them practical skills that could support their professional development and future opportunities.

The program was offered as a subsidized community training initiative, driven by the desire of IT professionals led by Engr. Theodore Mbah to give back to the community and create opportunities for people—particularly young digital enthusiasts—to develop relevant skills.

The program concluded with learners presenting projects they had developed during the training. Their work was evaluated and scored, giving participants an opportunity to demonstrate what they had learned in a practical setting.
